The Problem

Believe it or not, Sarasota County's 9 member hospital board, responsible for making decisions that can determine whether patients live or die, actually has NO medical doctors on it. None.  To effectively serve our community, our publicly-elected hospital board needs balance that should include medical doctors loyal to their oaths to protect patients, to serve as a check against any kind of cold-blooded, profit-centered hospital policy that has compromised hospitals across America.

The glaring lack of medical doctors on the board has resulted in an unsettling deficit in medical expertise to act as a check against corporate-centered hospital policy. The current board is unbalanced and ineffective at fully protecting patients.

The Solution

Stephen Guffanti, MD, and Tamzin Rosenwasser, MD, decided to run for the Sarasota Memorial Hospital board when they realized that the best way to protect patients is to literally have a seat at the table on the hospital board, where hospital policy decisions are made.

Dr. Guffanti's and Dr. Rosenwasser's driving force is their understanding that hundreds of patients died unnecessarily at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and that more could have and should have been done to save them.

They see every community member as a "patient" they could help as a hospital board member. Their decades of experience as Emergency Medicine physicians and their strong dedication to patients would be of immense value to our community, as they protect us from inside the hospital, with a seat at the table.

They would put an end to the unquestioned establishment rubber-stamping culture on the hospital board, and be voices for putting patients first.

Who would you choose to have your back on the hospital board, on your August 20th ballot for publicly-elected Hospital Board member? Who could you turn to if your mom or husband was having problems at the hospital? Who do you think would be the best person to help steer hospital policy in favor of better patient care?

Bring balance to the board and vote for medical doctors who have dedicated their lives honoring their oaths to protect patients.

Vote for Stephen Guffanti, MD and Tamzin Rosenwasser, MD, for Hospital Board on August 20th.
